Russian suspected of stealing yacht worth €3.5mn in Turkey

The yacht was missing for four months.

The Spanish Civil Guard has found a yacht at the coast of Turkey, which was stolen in early April at the port of Palma in the Balearic Islands.

“Four people, who were on board, three from Turkey and one from Russia, have been detained,” TASS cites the press service of Spanish law enforcement bodies.

Spanish law enforcers were able to track the ship's route thanks to a system of international cooperation. First, the yacht was seen in Greece, and then in Turkey. The suspects turned out to have fake documents for the yacht, which complicated the search.

The yacht is estimated at 3.5 million euros. As part of the theft case, an investigation was initiated against four more people, including a Spanish citizen, as well as citizens of Hungary, Germany, and Portugal.

Previously, Russian billionaire Yury Shefler with an amnesty-closed criminal case chartered one of the most expensive yachts in the world.
