Russia did not support the draft statement of the United States in the UN Security Council on the situation regarding Turkey’s military operation in Syria. This is reported by RIA Novosti referring to its source.
As it became known, American draft document calls the actions of the Turkish side an invasion. In addition, Ankara is asked to terminate its military operation in Syria.
In turn, Russia opposed the draft statement, since it does not correspond to the position of Moscow.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that peace and stability in the areas where the operation is carried out can only be achieved through “an effective and mutually respectful dialogue between the government and the Kurds.”
