People suspected of preparing an assassination attempt on French president detained
Surveillance of a 63-year-old pensioner helped expose the plans of criminals.
Two men of 30 and 45 were detained in the case of an assassination attempt on the President of France. They were charged with participation in a criminal terrorist organization. According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, both detainees are members of an ultra-right group.
The attempt was planned for November 7 during the visit of Emmanuel Macron to the city of Charleville-Mezieres, investigators established. In hot pursuit, they managed to detain six people who admitted to planning the crime.
Surveillance of a 63-year-old pensioner Jean-Pierre Bouyer, who came into the view of internal intelligence after an attempt to assassinate Macron in 2018, helped expose the plans of criminals. In a telephone conversation, Bouyer said he wants to attack the president with a ceramic knife that metal detectors cannot detect.
Bouyer was detained while he was going to meet with one of his accomplices. A ceramic knife was found in his car.
During the searches, a large number of weapons were found on the suspects. All detainees are in custody in Paris.
