Over 120 people arrested on charges of mob ties in Italy
During searches, property worth 130 million euros was confiscated.
In various regions of Italy, more than 120 people suspected of involvement in the activities of the criminal organization Camorra, based in the Campania region in the south of Italy, have been arrested, RIA Novosti reports referring to the Public Prosecutor of Naples.
The operation took place on the morning of June 26 with the participation of the Carabinieri special forces. Investigation of the case involved representatives of the Department for the Fight Against the Mafia, the state police, and the Guardia di Finanza. During searches, property worth 130 million euros was seized. The clans of the Camorra Contini, Mallardo, and Licciardi were affected.
The arrested are accused of involvement in mafia activities, racketeering, drug smuggling, money laundering, and other serious crimes. It is reported that the facts of “interference in the activities of state structures” were established during the investigation.
At noon Moscow time, the Chief Prosecutor of Naples held a press conference during which he revealed the details of the operation.
Presumably, it concerns the US response to Ukraine’s help in the investigation against Joseph Biden, Trump’s main rival in the 2020 presidential election, who allegedly was in collusion with Kiev during the previous campaign.
