Mother detained after body of her missing infant son found stuffed in a bag in India
The family reported the boy kidnapped ten days ago.
A 24-year-old woman was arrested after her missing eight-month-old son was found dead. The family reported the boy kidnapped ten days ago, but the baby’s body was eventually found stuffed in a bag inside his own house.
The boy’s father and other relatives noticed a foul smell coming from a bag lying in the granary and made the horrible discovery. They immediately alerted the authorities.
“A police team reached the spot and reprimanded each of the family members separately and found the mother’s role suspicious,” circle officer Sharad Chandra Sharma was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
The woman claims the boy’s death was an accident, but authorities will perform an autopsy to verify her words.
“She said she was feeding the animals outside the house when the infant fell off the cot and died. She said this scared her and in order to hide the incident from the family, she kept the body in the granary,” Sharma said.
“It seems that the woman is hiding something. We learnt she was having an illicit affair.” Police are entertaining the theory that the woman wanted to frame her lover’s wife for the abduction and murder of the infant boy, according to The Times of India.
