‘Manspreading inside the Elysee’: UK PM puts his feet up in French president’s palace amid meeting with Macron on Brexit
Boris Johnson felt right at home, putting his feet on Macron’s table while asking the French leader to reopen Brexit negotiations.
The British prime minister was dubbed “rude and embarrassing” as soon as the photograph of Boris Johnson’s foot on President Emmanuel Marcon’s table surfaced online.
The French leader seemed amused, looking down as the prime minister plants his foot on the edge of a table between them.
“Rude and embarrassing. Imagine if Macron put his foot on the table at Buckingham Palace,” biographer of the former London mayor tweeted.
“Manspreading inside the Elysee,” the Sun’s political editor, Tom Newton Dunn wrote in a tweet.

The gesture, however, appears to have been a joke, shared between the two leaders as Dunn later explains.
