Italy: speedboat racer trying to break record dies in crash, killing 3

Italian speedboat racer Fabio Buzzi died while trying to break an offshore speed record.

The champion Italian racer was killed when he hit an artificial reef near Venice. He was 76 years old, reports BBC.

Together with Buzzi, four more people were on board - only one of them, Mario Invernizzi, managed to survive and now is being treated at a nearby hospital.

According to the reports, the boat reached almost 150 kilometers per hour, after which it crashed into an artificial reef. The crew tried to set the record for traveling from Monte Carlo to Venice.
