Italian astronaut to become first ever Space DJ

Luca Parmitano will play electronic dance music from the International Space Station.

Italian engineer and astronaut Luca Parmitano will play a first ever DJ set from space on August 13. This performance will be possible thanks to the collaboration of the European Space Agency and German clubbing innovators BigCityBeats World Club Dome, according to Forbes.

"I said to my wife, 'Let's put everything on one card, let's do the biggest club in the world.' So we reconfigured an arena and built the biggest dance floor in the world," Big City Beats founder Bernd Breiter was quoted as saying.

The Italian astronaut will also talk about his experience of life in space and the value of music as a connecting element in all cultures. Both the concert and the lecture will be broadcast from the International Space Station.
