Georgian authorities report on growth of tourist flow from Russia
This summer, the number of tourists from Russia has grown.
This summer, more Russians visited Georgia than a year ago. As Interfax reports with reference to the National Tourism Administration of Georgia, 519.2 thousand tourists from Russia visited the country last summer, which is 1.1% more than in June-August 2018.
in June this year, the number of tourists from Russia increased by 30.8% compared to the same period last year; yet in July, it decreased by 7.6%, and in August - by 8.5%.
Recall that tension between the two countries arose again after the incident involving State Duma deputy Sergei Gavrilov took place. During the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy Gavrilov, the Chairman, sat in the chair of the speaker of the Georgian parliament. The opposition did not like this and arranged mass protests in Tbilisi. As a result, the Russian authorities imposed a temporary ban on air travel with Georgia.
