Five children killed in a horrible fire at US day care

The children killed in a deadly blaze were aged from 8 months to 8 years, according to reports.

A fire in a day care in Erie, Pennsylvania killed five small children, according to the Chief Guy Santone of the Erie Fire Department. A woman, Elaine Harris, is reported to have also been taken out of the fire and sent to hospital.

Two teenagers ages 12 and 15 reportedly escaped the flames by jumping off the building roof and went to their neighbors for help, saying there are children trapped inside. One of the neighbors attempted to enter the burning building, but the smoke was too thick, according to Erie News Now.

“That fire was just nuts,” neighbor Danika Scott was quotes as saying by the Sun.

Firefighters managed to get everyone out of the burning day care, but despite the doctors’ best efforts, five children did not survive.

According to Chief Santone, in total there were eight people trapped inside the burning building, including the five children, two teenagers and Elaine Harris, who reportedly was the owner of the day care.

Officials are considering the possibility that it was arson, but the incident is still under investigation and nothing can be said for certain, Chief Santone said.
