Law enforcers detained 26 males and 5 females that may have connections to a criminal group Unión Tepito.

Mexican law enforcers have found 2 illegal drug labs, a weapons cache and an underground passage with an unknown length in Central Mexico City, reports RIA Novosti. 26 males and 5 females that may have connections to a criminal group Unión Tepito have been detained.

600 police officers, 90 agents of the country’s Attorney General’s Office and 147 marines, who secured the perimeter, are reported to have taken part in the operation. Mexician Secretary of Defence said that they received information related to a conspiracy between the criminals and public authorities, so the operation was carried out straight away. Two laboratories that produced synthetic drugs were found in four houses. Besides that, a large amount of drugs, chemical precursors, 20 firearms, 50 ammunition cartridges, rocket launchers and grenades, were seized, along with money and stolen cars.

Underground tunnel was found under the building. Its direction and length are unknown, so far. Drugs tunnels are common in Mexico, but this is the first time when this kind of passage was found in the capital city.
