Cleaver-wielding man stabs three people in Hong Kong, leaves one victim in critical condition
Three people were stabbed with a butcher knife by an unknown assailant in Hong Kong.
A 50-year-old man stabbed two young women and a young man in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old women, a reporter working for the Hong Kong Economic Journal, is in critical condition with a gaping wounds in left shoulder, back and hands. The other woman, aged 25, suffered cuts to the head while the man, 24, suffered wounds to the head as well as to his left arm.
RTHK radio station reports, that the attack happened at a “Lennon Wall” in Tseung Kwan O, where anti-government ralliers left colorful stickers and protest inscriptions.
According to eyewitnesses, the attacker was armed with a cleaver for cutting meat. He had a conversation with his victims, which quickly escalated to a political dispute and ended with the man attacking the three.
Law enforcement officers arrested the suspect after he decided to return to Hong Kong instead of his initial plan of fleeing the city.
A preliminary investigation showed that “his earnings could have been greatly affected by recent protests,” a source told South China Morning Post.
