Aussie woman rushes into bushfire to save koala
The koala was going straight into the fire, the woman said.
The green continent is captured by fires. Australia’s forests are burning and marsupial bears are mostly the victims.
More than a million hectares of forest in the reserve has been destroyed and several hundred koalas died in the fire. Australians risk their lives pulling the animals out of the flames. Toni Doherty has become the hero of all local and world news. The woman got into a burning forest to save a koala. The koala was going straight into the fire, the woman said. She understood that if she did nothing, the animal would die and her only thought was that she had to pull it out. The woman managed to catch it and then find water. She said she was not afraid and acted “on instinct”.
The bushfires have killed three people, injured 30 and destroyed hundreds of residential buildings. The fires are said to be the deadliest over the last 40 years.
