Afghan ambassador robbed of €17 thousand in Barcelona
Afghanistan’s ambassador to Spain was attacked in the middle of Barcelona on Sunday evening.
Masood Khalili was mugged in the center of Barcelona on Sunday evening, with the assailants throwing the ambassador to the ground in the attempt to steal his watch, local police reports.
The watch was worth €17 thousand, El Periodico reports.
The official suffered a minor leg injury in the attack, according to diplomatic sources cited by Spanish media.
This attack is the latest in a string of high-profile robberies that have lately been plaguing one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations, Barcelona.
