Roskomnadzor Head: All latest Russian terrorist attacks were plotted via Telegram, Durov hiding behind living shield
He said the messenger’s logic is absolutely that of a pirate.
Roskomnadzor Head Alexander Zharov said that all the latest terrorist acts in the country were plotted via the Telegram app. The founders are hiding behind the living shield of IT corporations, he said.
The Roskomnadzor head said this while speaking to the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.
Zharov stated the messenger’s logic is absolutely that of a pirate and resembles the strategy the VKontakte social network had relied on before Mail.ru took it over.
He referred in the same way to the methods the app is using to bypass the ban. According to Zharov, the messenger is using the IP addresses of other services’ networks and "is hiding behind the living shield of international IT corporations." Despite this, the app’s degradation from Rostelecom’s actions is ranging from 15% to 30%, according to the official.
Major general Igor Vasiliev, Head of the Engineering Support Service of the Federal Protection Service (FPS), and lieutenant general Ulitin subordinate to him are currently in the middle of a scandal. However, it is unlikely that they lose their posts. Reportedly, the two generals are just the tip of the huge corruption iceberg in the law enforcement structures. This is not the first embezzlement episode in their careers.
