Yugra investigators detain serial rapist and pedophile after 10 years of search

A citizen of Rostov region has been detained on suspicion of a series of rape abuses.

Investigators of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District found a criminal who raped six teenage girls almost 10 years ago, reports the Office of Investigations of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District.

According to the criminal case file, in 2005-2008, unknown man raped a few teenage girls in a city of Surgut and Nefteyugansk; the man threatened the girls with a knife. Six girls - with the eldest one being 13 years old at the time - were the victims.

The crimes remained unsolved for a long period of time, however as a result of several forensic examinations and elaborate study of criminal cases, the suspect was identified. He is a 41-year-old citizen of Rostov region who was recently detained by investigators of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District.

The native of Rostov has already been condemned under articles on rape and violent actions of sexual character (article 131 and 132 of Russia’s Criminal Code). He has been arrested under the court decision. 

At the present time, the investigation is ongoing. The detainee’s involvement in other similar crimes is being determined.
