The decision stemmed from the fact that previously, the young woman was believed to have had an extreme emotional disturbance at the time of the crime she is charged with.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation severed the patricide charges against the youngest of the Khachaturian sisters, Maria, from the other charges. She will be tried separately and without a jury, said Alexey Parshin, lawyer representing the middle sister, Angelina, to TASS.

The lawyer said that the decision stemmed from the fact that previously, the young woman was believed to have had an extreme emotional disturbance at the time of the crime she is charged with.

Earlier, it was reported that the Khachaturian sisters’ defense attorneys had asked for a jury trial.

Maria, Angelina and Kristina Khachaturian were detained in the summer of 2018 after the body of their father Mikhail was found in the entrance hall of their building on Altufevskoye Highway. According to the defendants and their lawyers, the father had been abusing his daughters, so they decided to get rid of him.
