A political scientist Denis Gramatchikov has been beaten by unidentified individuals. The incident occurred on Friday evening, during a sociological study in the Uralmash region, in the north of Yekaterinburg. As Gramatchikov told the local publication E1.RU, three or four men attacked him while he was carrying a box of paper data from a sociological survey into his car.
“I fell to the ground after being hit; they started to kick me, and then they were gone, just like the box,” the journalists cite the political scientist.
After the attack, Gramachevikov was hospitalized; doctors diagnosed him with concussion and dissection of the lip.
Initially, the defendants in the case had been charged with embezzlement through swindling in the amount of 225 million rubles ($3.3 million). In the final version of the indictment, the article was changed to 1.5-billion-ruble ($22.45 million) embezzlement.
