Six ambulances drove 16 injured in an accident in Volgograd – a MAZ truck drove at full speed into a minibus that stopped at the edge of the road. The minibus was slammed into the pole in front, the front end literally split in two until the driver's seat. According to the truck driver, the vehicle was used for the first time after a long repair, and the brakes failed. The local publication V1.ru reported about the incident.
The truck was transporting 20 tons of nitre from Kazan to Svetly Yar. After the accident, the driver was able to stop the car only a few hundred meters away.
Passersby rushed to help the victims. The head of the regional PD, Police General Alexander Kravchenko, arrived to the scene in civilian.
General’s son Mikhail Sal’nikov, Professor of the Department of Theory of Government and Law at the St. Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation, has been detained for real estate fraud. Amid other corruption crimes hitting the headlines, this offense does not seem a high-profile one. But the point is that this is not the first criminal case instituted against professor Sal’nikov, and he is not the only relative of MIA general Viktor Sal’nikov having problems with the law.
