Vladimir region: policeman tried of detainee who hanged himself on shoe strings
In Petushinsky district, the trial of the policeman, along of whom the detainee hanged himself, begins.
According to the Vladimir Regional Court, this incident occurred in one of the local police stations. The assistant attendant of the police department will soon be on the dock on charges of committing two crimes that have no connection with each other.
During the investigation it was established that in February last year, the drunken man was taken to the police station. Policemen detained him for appearing in a public place while intoxicated. The assistant attendant put the detainee in an isolator, however, he violated the instructions, not taken away the shoe laces. The arrested man took an opportunity, pulled the laces out of his shoes, and hung himself in the cell.
As a result, for negligence resulting in death of man, a criminal case was initiated against the policeman. In accordance with the instruction the assistant on duty was supposed to monitor the man placed in the isolator, but he did not.
In addition, in March 2015, the same police officer gave false testimony when passed the trial of his colleague, exceeding official powers.
Currently, this policeman was fired from the Interior Ministry.
