Unknown person stabs 8 passers-by in Surgut
In Surgut, a mentally ill man has attacked passers-by with a knife, 8 people injured.
Saturday, August 19, an unknown person with a knife attacked passers-by and stabbed 8 people in the center of Surgut. According to the regional Investigative Committee, the incident took place at the intersection of Bazhov and Lenin streets outside the Mir Shopping Center at 11:20 a.m. local time. As a result of the attack, two people were hospitalized in serious condition, and five more sustained moderately serious injuries. They were also hospitalized.
Law enforcers who arrived at the scene eliminated the offender. At the moment, the motives for his actions have yet to be established, but according to preliminary data, he had mental disorders, which was the reason for aggressive actions.
According to witnesses, there were two attackers; one of the criminals managed to escape. Currently, amber alert has been announced in the city. The first reports say the criminals were armed not only with knives, but also with firearms.
A criminal case under part 3 of Art. 30 of the Russian Criminal Code (Attempted murder) has been initiated into the incident.
