Ufa police officers beat investigators at police station
Employees of the ICR came to colleagues after they had received a complaint about beating of a detainee.
Two police officers in Ufa beat the staff of the Investigative Committee, who came to their office as witnesses. The incident is reported on the website of the Bashkir Directorate of the ICR.
According to the information, in December 2018 the investigators received a complaint from one of the detainees about beatings by the staff of the police control room. Investigators arrived with a check to inspect the scene.
“Two officers on duty, knowing for sure that those who arrived at the police department are investigators of the ICR and in the presence of witnesses intend to inspect the scene, used physical force against two investigators,” the ICR says.
The investigators were forcibly led out of the station, not being able to complete their work. One of the employees of the ICR was injured. For their part, Interior Ministry officials claimed that the aggression had not come from their side — one police officer even provided a medical certificate about a broken arm, which he allegedly received during the fight, but the certificate turned out to be fictitious just like the fracture.
A criminal case was initiated against the chief of the duty staff and operational police officer on duty of department No. 11 of the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Ufa under Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Exceeding Official Power s with the use of violence).
