Ufa police chiefs charged with gang rape
Eduard Matveev, 51, former Ufa MIA head, Pavel Yaromchuk, 34, his Karmaskaly counterpart, and Salavat Galiev, 50, former migration department head have been charged with Rape and Sexual Assault.
In Bashkiria, three former high-ranking police officers suspected of raping a 23-year-old subordinate have been formally charged with gang rape (item (a), part 2 of Art. 131) and sexual assault (item (a), part 2 of Art. 132), said the regional office of the ICR.
Earlier, Eduard Matveev, 51, former Ufa MIA head, Pavel Yaromchuk, 34, his Karmaskaly counterpart, and Salavat Galiev, 50, former migration department head were placed in custody for two months.
The incident occurred on the night of October 29-30. Three police officers were drinking in the building of MIA’s Migration Department for the Ufa district. At some point during the party, they summoned a young woman who worked as the investigator there, assaulted her and raped her. Subsequently, the policemen were dismissed for an act tarnishing the reputation of a law enforcement officer.
The detention is related to the investigation into the abduction and murder of Tatyana Sidorova, a deputy of the Ramenskoye District Legislature, and three members of her family, which occurred back in 2012.
