TsNIImash scientist arrested in case of high treason
The Lefortovo Court of Moscow can neither confirm nor deny information about the arrest, referring to the case's sensitivity.
The day before, the Court sanctioned the arrest of an employee of the Central Research Institute for General Machine Building (TsNIImash), 74-year-old Viktor Kudryavtsev, who is a defendant in a high-profile treason case. The scientist has been charged with a corresponding article. This is reported by TASS referring to a member of the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission, Evgeniya Enikeeva.
The arrests in such cases are ruled by the Lefortovo Court of Moscow. However, the Court refused to either confirm or deny information about the arrest, referring to the fact that the case is highly classified. In addition, all names of the suspects and defendants on charges of High Treason or Espionage have been removed from the Court’s website, where information about the hearings and their participants is usually published. The Court told TASS that it would no longer provide personal data of the persons involved in such cases in connection with their secrecy.
To recap, a series of searches related to the high treason case has been held in the Roscosmos Research and Analytical Center in Moscow, as well as in the TsNIImash’s office. Operatives believe that the scientists have been providing foreign authorities with secret information about hypersonic projects of the Russian defense industry.
Shortly afterward, it was reported that Head of the Roscosmos Research and Analytical Center Dmitry Payson gave in his notice. It is reported that the analyst will leave his post in early August.
Presumably, it concerns the US response to Ukraine’s help in the investigation against Joseph Biden, Trump’s main rival in the 2020 presidential election, who allegedly was in collusion with Kiev during the previous campaign.
