Three employees of Kresty-2 prison fired after video with beating of arrestee
Employees and their superiors were brought to responsibility.
In St. Petersburg, three employees of the Kresty-2 pre-trial detention center were fired following a check, which was initiated after a video of bullying a prisoner was published. Another 20 people, including the heads of the pre-trial detention center, were brought to responsibility, Fontanka reports.
A video of beating a prisoner was published on the Internet on August 7. On the same day, the Investigative Committee initiated a check, the results of which are to be announced next week. According to the founder of Gulagu.net Vladimir Osechkin, the head of the pre-trial detention center Vladimir Ivlev may be involved in the bullying of prisoners.
On August 7, Osechkin filed a complaint with the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Investigative Office and the Kremlin, in which he wrote about agents of the FSIN’s operational department who, at the direction of the operatives, tortured prisoners, knocking out confessions and extorting money in the amount of more than 50 thousand rubles. The investigators and the administration of the pre-trial detention center allegedly illegally transfer “mobile phones, wooden bats and other prohibited items, supply them with home-made food, and create preferential conditions of detention”.
September 10 is the day when State Duma deputies return from summer vacation to the building on Okhotny Ryad. Among them is the hero of our previous investigation, the ‘Steel King of the South of Russia,’ Ivan Ivanovich Demchenko. The owner of the Abinsky Electrometallurgical Plant, which withdraws the profits of companies under its control to the accounts of foreign offshore companies, will once again start working as part of the Duma committee on regulations – it is an unchallenging job, necessary for parliamentary immunity of the deputy and his vast business, which brings billions of rubles annually.
