US wants to interrogate Russian pop star within Russian interference in 2016 US election investigation
Agalarov participated in the organization of the now infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting.
The lawyer of Russian singer Emin Agalarov told NBC News that American special counsel
Robert Mueller, who is investigating the Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, wants to interrogate the singer, Interfax pens.
“Conversations are ongoing" about a potential interview, the lawyer, Scott Balber, wrote in an email. “Unclear how this will play out.”
NBC recalls that Agalarov participated in organizing a meeting between son of US President Donald Trump Jr. and Kremlin-linked lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya during the election campaign of Donald Trump in 2016.
Balber did not elaborate on whether Mueller is also interested in speaking to Agalarov’s father, Aras Agalarov, a billionaire with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin (he was also related to the meeting between Trump and Veselnitskaya).
Earlier, producer Rob Goldstone had stated that he organized the infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting. Then the producer noted that the meeting was held in the interests of his client from Moscow Emin Agalarov.
In turn, Trump Jr. has said he took the meeting because he was told Veselnitskaya had dirt on Clinton, but it never materialized.
The meeting is of keen interest to Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and possible links to the Trump campaign. Also, the Senate also conducts the audit.
