Supreme Court confirmed legality of Vikhorevka Mayor’s resignation
Mayor of the city Gennady Pulyaev was removed from office by the decision of Irkutsk Governor Sergey Levchenko for the failure of the heating season last winter.
The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Irkutsk Regional Court, which previously recognized resignation of Mayor of the city of Vikhorevka in the Angara region Gennady Pulyaev by the decision of region's Governor Sergey Levchenko lawful. This is reported on the official website of the government of the Irkutsk region.
Recall that the Head of the Angara region decided to dismiss Pulyaev after the failure of the heating season, which led to the announcement of emergency state in Vikhorevka. The former Mayor, in turn, tried to challenge this decision first in the regional court, and then appealed to the Supreme Court.
Former traffic cop Mikhail Saplinov was sentenced to life in prison for murdering two young women. The trial was held in the Belgorod region in February. The defendant pleaded guilty.
