Russian Senator Suleyman Kerimov detained in Nice
The member of the Federation Council is in custody in one of the police stations of the city.
Member of the Federation Council Suleyman Kerimov is detained at the airport of Nice and brought to one of the police stations, TASS reports with reference to the press service of Embassy of the Russian Federation in France.
As the agency specifies, Russian diplomatic employees who provide him consular support have already gone to Kerimov.
According to the latest data, Kerimov is in custody in one of the police stations of Nice, the embassy noted. It is still unknown what charges did the French side bring to senator. According to the Reuters agency, the detention is connected with legal investigation of evasion of taxes.
The prosecutors want the former Russian Federation Council member to go to prison for 14 years instead of 9 and pay a 500-million-ruble ($8.8 million) fine instead of 70 million rubles ($1.2 million).
