St. Petersburg: reckless driver who knocked down four people caught on video
Six victims, including a child and tourists, suffered in the accident.
In St. Petersburg, a BMW 528 drove through the red light, collided with a Peugeot, flew out onto the pavement, knocked down two trees and four pedestrians. One of the victims fell into the Fontanka River. The driver and the passenger were also injured.
“In the accident at the intersection the Fontanka River Embankment and Nevsky Prospect, 6 people were injured. A man in grave condition, an Estonian citizen and a German citizen with moderate injuries were delivered to the Mariinsky Hospital. To the Janelidze Hospital – a man and a woman with moderate injuries. In the Rauhfusa Hospital – a child with moderate injuries,” St. Petersburg Vice Governor Anna Mityanina wrote on Twitter.
Later, Mityanina wrote that all the victims taken to the Mariinsky Hospital had moderate injuries.
According to the MIA, the accident occurred at about 4.45 pm at the intersection of Nevsky Prospekt and the Fontanka River Embankment. The BMW belongs to a 24-year-old native of the city of Maysky, Kabardino-Balkaria, who came to St. Petersburg to visit his older brother, a graduate of a military institute, Fontanka writes. According to preliminary information, the car was moving at a speed of 120 km/h.
