Sochi: Vodostok engineer accused of death of seven-year boy in stormwater drainage
The child fell under the ground, the wastewater carried the dead body into the sea.
Sochi investigators charged the deputy chief engineer for the operation of storm sewage systems at MUE Vodostok with negligence which inadvertently caused the death of a seven-year-old boy. The child, who came with his grandmother from Tatarstan for holidays, fell into the drainage and died, the ICR’s Investigative Directorate for the Krasnodar Region reports.
The incident occurred on August 3, 2018 in the village of Lazarevskoye. During a downpour, the boy fell into the stormwater drainage, and the sewage carried him into the sea. At first, the charges was brought against the owner of the guest house, Sergey Shchedrov. The court terminated the criminal proceedings against him, as the entrepreneur pleaded guilty and indemnified the damage.
The drainage system belongs to Vodostok; it was not maintained in any way during the year, so the investigation charged a new suspect from the MUE.
Six months ago, no one could predict the state of the MIA General Administration for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region by the time of the forthcoming elections. After the appointment of Moscow general Roman Plugin in charge of it, the St. Petersburg police has undergone significant changes. Major general of justice Oleg Antropov, Head of the Main Investigations Directorate, is ‘the last man standing’ from the old command of the MIA General Administration. Most probably, he is going to become the next victim of ‘janitor’ Plugin.
