"There is option that if he was registered, we would discuss this point with him, we would talk with him, [and] I would withdraw my candidate in his favor. For me, this is an important point. I will not break the united democratic front," she said.

"I consider him my companion and a friend. I do not oppose his position. I believe that he is doing very important things for the country," Sobchak said.

On October 18, Ksenia Sobchak officially announced plans to participate in the presidential election in 2018. Rumours appeared in September, after the Vedomosti post about the Kremlin's plans to make woman, for example, Sobchak, a "sparring partner to the main candidate" - Vladimir Putin.

Alexey Navalny criticized the possible nomination of Sobchak, saying that the Kremlin needed a "caricature liberal candidate."
