Former detective of Yekaterinburg’s Zheleznodorozhny District Directorate of Internal Affairs Andrey Chernyaev is accused of a series of rapes and murders of girls and grown-up women.

Sverdlovsk region court has started considering a case against a former detective of Yekaterinburg’s Zheleznodorozhny District Directorate of Internal Affairs Andrey Chernyaev (48) who is being accused of a series of rapes and murders of girls and grown-up women, reports Ura.ru.

The investigation is accusing Chernyaev of murder threat, 3 acts of rape abuse, 2 instances of sexual violence, robbery, and murder committed with extreme cruelty in order to conceal another sexual assault, Aleksander Shulga, an executive assistant of a head of the Office of Investigations of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Sverdlovsk region, has stated.

The investigation theory is that the first crime - murder threat - was committed by Chernyaev in 1999-2000. In 2001, he raped his wife with extreme cruelty threatening to throw her off the balcony or throw acid at her. In 2008, Chernyaev brought a 33-year-old prostitute to his apartment, raped her, and forced her out. He did not pay her and stole her items.

The biggest crime of the former police officer was a murder of a 14-year-old schoolgirl whose dead body was found at the stadium of the 57th school in Yekaterinburg on September 18, 2011. The investigation concluded Chernyaev had raped and killed the girl by stabbing her with a knife 41 times. With that, the serial killer had carved her lacteal gland and reproductive organs, as well as cut her throat.

Shortly after the murder, the victim’s stepmother was detained. During the investigative experiment, she showed how she was cutting the girl. However, the judge found that the evidence was falsified, and the woman was released. 5 and a half years after the DNA expert evaluation - with 4.5 thousand men taking part in - Chernyaev was detained. The former police officer pleaded guilty, called himself “a very bad person” and stated he had long time been waiting for arrest. However, during the investigation, he started retracting his confessions.

Chernyaev has been placed in the punitive confinement of the correctional facility №13 in the city of Nizhny Tagil - the prison where former law-enforcement officers serve their terms. According to a source close to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior in Sverdlovsk region, he was fired from police department following a drunken brawl he committed along with an investigator of the Prosecution Service inside the District Directorate of Internal Affairs.
