Serpukhov: lecturer of military academy branch blows up on projectile

The lieutenant colonel tried to cut the explosive, as a result of which lost his hand.

In Serpukhov, Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Zhulega, 43, who is a lecturer in fire training at the branch of the Peter the Great’s Strategic Missile Forces Military Academy, lost an arm while trying to disassemble a projectile from the times of the WW II. The victim is in intensive care in critical condition, MK reports. 

According to the newspaper, on May 12, Zhulega found a military projectile in a field, brought it to the his mother-in-law’s garage and tried to disassemble it: he squeezed it in a vice and began to saw. The explosion tore off his hand up to the elbow and inflicted multiple shrapnel wounds. The officer, covered in blood, came running to the medical center of the Academy, where he received first aid.
