Security forces supported by armored vehicles search Red Cross in Ingushetia
Earlier, the head of the office was arrested over use of violence against National Guard officers at a rally in Magas.
Security forces came to the Red Cross branch in Ingushetia with a search. The building was cordoned off, using armored vehicles, MBKh-Media reports. According to lawyer Magomed Bekov, the operative events were also held in the neighboring office of the World Ingush Congress, where two phones and a seal were eventually seized. Previously, the security forces had already arrived at the Red Cross office and took away documents and computers.
“They are looking for materials related to the March 25 publication, as it is written in the decree. [...] Someone allegedly posted a material on his account in which he called for protests. The investigation is trying to identify the author, as far as I understand it,” Bekov said.
During the searches, a door to one of the offices was pried open. Earlier, head of the Ingush branch of the Red Cross Musa Musalgov was taken into custody. According to the investigation, the suspect was involved in the clash between the protesters and security forces on March 27 in Magas, during which 10 officers of the National Russian Guard were injured.
The protest began on March 26. Its members demanded the resignation of the head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov. The security forces tried to disperse the protesters and faced resistance.
