Saratov police head plants drugs on detainee
The police officer and two of his coworkers are prosecuted for the sale of drugs and abuse of authority.
The former head of the department for the control of drug trafficking planted drugs on a detainee in Engels, Saratov region, the press service of the ICR reports. The police officer and two of his coworkers are prosecuted for the sale of drugs (part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and abuse of authority (part 4 of Art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to the investigation, on October 31, 2018, the police lieutenant colonel, his deputy and a security officer stopped two men aged 24 and 25 years on one of Engels streets. A search did not turn up any prohibited substances, however, they found the address of a drug stash on the 25-year-old’s telephone.
The phone owner asked the police to return the device to him. In response, the officers threw him to the ground, beat him, and then took him to the police station. Meanwhile, the other detainee ran away.
In the office, the lieutenant colonel planted a large bag of synthetic drug on the detainee. Later, it was “found” during a personal search and a criminal case was initiated.
Subsequently, the crime committed by the police officer was identified by the FSB in the Saratov region. The department head was fired. Currently, an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is being conducted.
The Vzglyad Info news agency reports that the police lieutenant colonel is named Vladislav Kazimirov, aged 34 and his deputy is named Denis Yakovlev; the name of the 28-year-old security officer was not reported. All three were detained on December 18, 2018 for abuse of office.
