Russian woman detained at customs with 10 gold bars in shoes
The woman was going to sell her inherited property in China.
Employees of the Zabaikalsk automobile checkpoint detained a Russian woman who had hidden 10 gold bars under a sneaker insole with a total weight of two kilograms. She was going to sell them in China, reports TASS. The investigating authorities opened a criminal case on smuggling (part 1 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The Russian woman was very nervous at the checkpoint, which aroused suspicion among the customs officers. With the help of a metal detector, they found the bars. The detainee had inherited the gold and the bars were home-made, explained to the FCS. She did not have documents on the acquisition or manufacture of the bars.
