Russian Muslims begin collecting money for lawyer for conscript who shot his comrades-in-arms
The initiators of the fund created in Moscow consider the soldier a victim of hazing.
Russian Muslims decided to collect money to hire a lawyer for conscript Ramil Shamsutdinov who shot eight people in Tyumen, for which they had already created a fund in Moscow. It is reported by URA.ru, referring to the Muslims Coordination Council of the Tyumen Region.
“As far as I know, a fund was created in Moscow through the Muslim Spiritual Administration,” Imam Khatib Ibragim Sukhov, the chairman of the Muslims Spiritual Administration of the Tyumen Region, told the Ural newspaper.
The imam believes that Shamsutdinov was driven to such a state that the soldier grabbed his weapon. Sukhov emphasized that fundraising is not religious but human support for conscripts.
Earlier, the Shamsutdinov family said that their friends raised 220,000 rubles ($ 3,400) for a trip to Chita to their son and payment for a lawyer.
The incident occurred on October 25 in military unit No. 54160 of the Drovyaninsky Garrison (Transbaikalia). Shamsutdinov was placed into custody until December 27. The Ministry of Defense Commission did not find signs of hazing to be the case and considered that Shamsutdinov had a conflict with his senior lieutenant. State Duma deputy Natalya Poklonskaya accused the Ministry of Defense of suppressing the causes of the incident.
