About the escape of three convicted of serious crimes from the prison, located in the Abkhaz village Dranda, it became known on 1st October. The media noted the ease, with which criminals left the pre-trial detention center. They firstly entered the administrative wing of the pre-trial detention center through unlocked doors, climbed to the second floor, where they cracked window’s grate and went down into the courtyard of the correctional institution.

Then fugitives just got out of the pre-trial detention center through the checkpoint, which nobody guarded this time for unknown reasons.

Abkhazia law enforcement bodies declared Guram Inapshba, Revaz Ugrekhelidze and Bachuki Lataria wanted, stressing out the danger of escaped criminals.

One of them, in particular, was sentenced to 15 years under part 1 of Art. 217, item (b), part 4 of Art. 159 and item (g, h), part 2 of Art. 99 of the Criminal Code of Abkhazia in February 2016 for the murder of a Russian,entrepreneur from North Ossetia Muhammad Tamaev.

According to the indictment, 39-year-old Guram Inapshba, being the member of a gang, assaulted arrived in Abkhazia for the purchase of mandarins Tamaev. Bandits fired two Gazelles of a businessman, as a result of this shootout Tamaev was killed. They stole 172 thousand rubles from the dead.

The second fugitive, 41-year-old citizen of Georgia Revaz Ugrekhelidze, is convicted of attempted murder. February 2, 2016, he stabbed a resident of the city of Gagra. In addition, he was charged with embezzlement of another's property and sentenced to 11 years in prison. The smallest term of imprisonment among fugitives has Bachuki Lataria, previously convicted for kidnapping. Before escaping, he was serving a sentence of 4 years imprisonment for another escape from prison, as well as for the illegal acquisition and possession of firearms.

Upon the escape a criminal case was initiated under part 2 of Art. 315 of the Criminal Code of Abkhazia. The Prosecutor's Office conducted investigation check. It is known that some jail employees are suspected of conspiring with prisoners.
