Prosecutor's office finds violations in investigation of case of Kokorin and Mamaev
The head of the Moscow police received an order from the supervisory authority.
The prosecutor's office found multiple violations of the Criminal Procedure Code in the investigation of the criminal case of football players Alexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev and demanded that Natalia Agafyeva, the head of the MIA’s Main Investigative Directorate for Moscow, eliminate them. The probe was initiated by Mamaev’s lawyer Igor Bushmanov, Rosbalt reports.
The prosecutor's office considered the case of football players to be easy and expressed bewilderment about the fact that a whole group of investigators from the department of especially important crimes is engaged in it. At the same time, after two months, all the circumstances of the incident were not clarified, and the investigative actions were not carried out in full. On one of the victims, the NAMI CEO Sergey Gaysin, the relevant examination did not find any signs of assault.
In addition, prosecutor’s office found the arrest too severe of a punishment for a fight without serious consequences. The investigation, in turn, stressed that the defendants committed the crime, “neglecting the interests of society and disturbing the peace of others.” And the minor fight with Trade Ministry official Denis Pak was called a criminal conspiracy.
On December 5, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow extended the terms of the football players’ custody until February 8, 2018. They are charged with hooliganism and assault.
