Policeman responsible for DUI hit-and-run with two injured teenage girls in Sochi
The pedestrians claim that they followed all the rules - cars stopped in two lanes and gave way to them.
The details of the accident involving the police officer on Sochi’s Kurortny Avenue have been reported. Two 16-year-old girls were walking across the road at a pedestrian crossing when a policeman driving a Toyota Mark X knocked them down.
Law enforcement officers who started the investigation into the accident found that the driver did not try to slow down before the pedestrian crossing. One of the girls broke her forehead, the other one was also injured. They were taken to the hospital.
“We were crossing the road, observing the rules. It’s just two lanes, two-way traffic. The cars stopped on both lanes, giving way to us. We had the right to cross the road. The car that hit us was not going along the lane. Either it had just turned or tried to overtake,” one of the victims told Komsomolskaya Pravda.
The culprit disappeared from the scene. When he was detained and brought in for examination, it turned out that the policeman was drunk. The Ministry of Internal Affairs began a service check.
The cadets have been found guilty of an Attempt at Murder by a Group of Persons by Previous Concert and for Mercenary Reasons (part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 of Art. 105 of the Russian Criminal Code). They do not plead guilty.
