Police Day turned into detention for main Sverdlovsk corruption fighter driving drunk
The detained policeman has already been replaced with his deputy.
In Yekaterinburg the Head of Administration for Combating the Corruption of the regional UEBiPK Alexander Govorin was arrested for drunk driving, as reported by Znak.com. The official was driving drunk after a party dedicated to the Police Day.
The Head of the Sverdlovsk MIA press service Valery Gorelykh confirmed the arrest of his colleague and declared initiation of the official investigation. He also predicted severe punishment, not only for him, but his superiors as well. Gorelykh also added that within the framework of personnel purges of the Sverdlovsk police, 38 policemen have already been dismissed since the beginning of this year. Thus, the detained is expected to leave his post too. "No one is going to cover anybody," - Gorelykh said.
Colleagues of the detained Major give him positive characteristics only, noting his sports lifestyle and his service achievements. For example, in 2013 Govorin was awarded a memorable sign "For police service" for his significant contribution to the work of local law enforcement agencies.
It is worth noting, that according to the official web site of the Sverdlovsk Region MIA General Administration, the local Administration for Combating the Corruption is already headed by the Acting Head Sergey Chuvakov.
