Plenipotentiary Tsukanov fires assistant caught in treason
Alexander Vorobyov is in a pre-trial detention center.
Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Urals Federal District Nikolai Tsukanov ordered to dismiss his assistant, Alexander Vorobyov, who was previously arrested by the court on suspicion of treason. The personnel decision was made 6 days after the official was taken into custody, said Ura.ru.
It is noteworthy that Tsukanov has worked with the man since the mid-2000s and he is still yet to comment on the detention of his subordinate. Only Deputy Plenipotentiary Boris Kirillov spoke earlier calling Vorobyov a traitor and said that "it happens sometimes."
As The CrimeRussia said earlier, the FSB detained Vorobyov on July 4. A search allegedly uncovered a Polish passport and recording equipment. Later, the official was placed in the Lefortovo jail by a court decision until August 4.
Vorobyov became Tsukanov’s assistant in July last year. Prior to that, he held a position in the government of the Kaliningrad region and the presidential office in the North-West Federal District.
