Picketing in support of journalist Golunov resume in Moscow and St. Petersburg
Kadyrov called the criminal case against the journalist a conspiracy of the liberals, and the hype around it – a gala concert.
Single picketing in support of the Medusa journalist Ivan Golunov by the buildings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office in Moscow resumed, the Riga publication reports on its new Telegram channel Golunov. One-man pickets are held in St. Petersburg at Gostiny Dvor, Zaks.Ru reports. More than 150,000 people signed a petition in support of the journalist on Change.org. The head of Chechnya accused officials and media journalists of putting pressure on the investigators and liberal conspiracy against Russia and the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.
“And what is the purpose of this whole gala concert with demands? To overshadow the results of SPIEF-2019, reduce its excellent results in the eyes of the Russian public, present Russia as an outcast country...” Kadyrov wrote on his Telegram channel.
The head of Chechnya was outraged by the demands of officials and journalists to the Prosecutor General’s Office to take Golunov’s case under its control. “And under these conditions, do you demand a calm and unbiased investigation?” Kadyrov asks.
Novaya Gazeta reminded the head of Chechnya that he had previously publicly defended a fighter of the Sever battalion Zaur Dadayev, accused of murdering politician Boris Nemtsov, who was later found guilty. In addition, Kadyrov asked the Prosecutor General to take the investigation of the case against the security guard of State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov under his personal control. The guards were accused of extorting money using threats from businessman Konstantin Zhukov. Then, the investigation has provided audio records of the threats. The guards got off with fines.
The cadets have been found guilty of an Attempt at Murder by a Group of Persons by Previous Concert and for Mercenary Reasons (part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 of Art. 105 of the Russian Criminal Code). They do not plead guilty.
