Omsk: Brother of scandalous deputy arrested for shooting at people with automatic weapons
Masked malefactors opened fire on five men on the evening of June 9 in Omsk. They aimed at the legs. Then the criminals escaped by car; several wounded persons were hospitalized.
June 23, employees of the local MIA criminal investigation department detained two previously convicted residents of Omsk (aged 26 and 29) on suspicion of participating in the shooting. Parts of the weapons used by the attackers were found on the bottom of the Irtysh river by divers.
The ICR Investigations Directorate in the Omsk region has initiated a criminal case under part 3 of Art. 30 and item a part 2 of Art. 105 of the Russian Criminal Code (Attempted Murder of more than two persons).
One of them is Ruslan Mavlyutov, the brother of ex-Deputy of the Omsk City Council Evgeny Mavlyutov. By court order, Ruslan Mavlyutov has been taken into custody for two months. The court has placed the second participant of the shooting under house arrest.
Let us recall that his brother Ruslan Mavlyutov had been stripped of his deputy's mandate due to a scandalous story, also related to the use of weapons.
June 5, 2015, the court found him guilty under part 1 of Art. 112 of the Russian Criminal Code (Intentional Infliction of Injury of Average Gravity, which is not hazardous to human life and which has not involved consequences referred to in Article 111 of this Code, but which has caused protracted injury to health or considerable stable loss of general capacity for work by not less than one-third) and sentenced him to 7 months’ restriction of liberty. His younger brother Ruslan Mavlyutov also took part in the incident, when his brother-deputy injured a 26-year-old teenager with traumatic pistol. For this, he was fined 15 thousand rubles.
The conflict occurred in 2013 between Ruslan Mavlyutov and a group of teenage nationalists, among whom there was eleventh-grader Evgeny Krikunov. Ruslan Mavlyutov was walking out with his girl, when a group of aggressive teenagers began to insult them on ethnic grounds. Then, a fight ensued. According to the investigation, 32-year-old Evgeny Mavlyutov, who pulled up on his black Infiniti by his brother’s call, struck the 16-year-old skinhead several times, and then shot the traumatic pistol Izh-MR-79 in the back of the fleeing teenager. Krikunov had to undergone an immediate surgery, as the rubber bullet stuck next to his kidney.
Former traffic cop Mikhail Saplinov was sentenced to life in prison for murdering two young women. The trial was held in the Belgorod region in February. The defendant pleaded guilty.
