Novgorod police officer sentenced to 3 years for murdering colleague
In Veliky Novgorod, the court has convicted a former police officer, who had shot his colleague by accident.
During the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings, the specialists found that in the evening of October 20 last year, when cleaning his service weapon in his office, a police officer accidentally shot a colleague, who was near him, due to violating the general safety requirements when disassembling the gun.
The court has found him guilty under part 2 of Art. 109 of the Russian Criminal Code (Infliction of Death by Negligence) and sentenced him to 3 years' imprisonment. To date, this verdict has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed.
