Novaya Moscow ICR department burned
The main version the fire investigators consider arson, which criminals have committed to destroy the materials of criminal cases and avoid punishment.
In the Troitsk and Novomoskovsk administrative district (TiANAO) in the village of Gazoprovod a whole floor of a two-story building burned down; there is located the territorial department of the Investigative Committee.
The fire occurred last night at about 02:00. Arriving at the site firefighters managed to eliminate the fire in 2.5 hours. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that the fire occurred between the second floor and the roof on a total area of about 150 square meters. As a result, fire destroyed the offices of the second floor, in which, among other things, the criminal cases of the Investigation Department were kept. The Head of the Main Investigation Department in Moscow, Alexander Drymanov, left for the fire.
"The competence of the investigators includes the investigation of grave, especially grave and resonant crimes, so the management of the Main Directorate believes that the motive for the arson was the desire to destroy the materials of criminal cases and avoid criminal liability," the representative of the Moscow department of the SKR, Yulia Ivanova, commented on the incident.
On this fact, investigators opened a criminal case under part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code (Intentional Destruction of Property by arson). Employees of the ICR find out all the circumstances of the incident, investigators and forensics examine the scene of the incident. Also fire-technical expertises are appointed.
The Moscow City Court sentenced Mikhail Maksimenko to 13 years of strict regime and a fine of 165 million rubles ($2.7m) within the case of bribes from representatives of the criminal world. The ICR Colonel denied his guilt, calling the case a frameup.
