Nizhny Novgorod Duma ex-deputy arrested for drugs
Alexey Belkin is suspected of illegal storage of banned substances.
Former parliamentarian of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma Alexey Belkin was arrested in Moscow on suspicion of drug possession, FederalPress reports citing the press service of the Ostankino District Court.
It is noted that the ex-deputy will stay in the pre-trial detention center for two months.
We add that Belkin was a popular candidate in the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod from 2011 to 2015. In addition, according to open sources, Belkin is an active member of the Russian Cynological Federation presidium and organizer of dog shows.
According to investigators, in May 2011, Vorotnikov ripped off several sock caps from uniformed policemen, threw them on to the roadway and stroked over the police officer's head twice during an unsanctioned rally.
