New criminal case against ex-director of Russian Academy of Sciences

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated a new criminal case against the former director of Institute of Scientific Information for Social Sciences (ISISS) of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Yury Pivovarov. He is incriminated part 4 Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud as a part of organized group).
As Pivovarov told journalists, he is suspected of employment of two employees who actually did not work, but at the same time got paid. In particular, one of ‘employees’ managed to earn one million rubles, the second – 500 thousand. “Allegedly I was conducting all these as a part of organized group”, quotes the scientist of TASS.
Besides, Yury Pivovarov told that law enforcement agencies carried out a search in his apartment. He noted that he has been withdrawn foreign passport and taken examples of handwriting.
To recall, Yury Pivovarov headed the ISISS RAS from 1998 to 2015, since April 27, 2015 he is the research supervisor of the institute. After the fire in library of institute on January 30, 2015, criminal case was opened against Pivovarov.
