Neighbor of Ufa ex-cop accused of rape expresses support for him
The man voluntarily came to the investigation department and asked to support Eduard Matveyev.
The neighbor of the former Head of the Russian MIA for Ufimsky district Eduard Matveyev, accused of raping a 23-year-old female investigator, expressed his support for him, reports Ufa1.ru. The man came to the investigation department, although no one summoned him, and told about the neighborhood with Matveyev.
“He told that Matveyev was a positive, sympathetic person, never had a row in the village, helped everyone who turned to him for advice. I asked to support him, ” said a source of Ufa1 in the investigative bodies.
Eduard Matveyev, as well as the former Head of the Russian MIA for Karmaskalinsky district Salavat Galiyev and the Ex-Head of the Migration Department of the MIA of Russia for Ufimsky district Pavel Yaromchuk are accused of raping the 23-year-old subordinate on the night of October 29. The police officers summoned the girl to the office where they drank and then abused her. The next day, the victim turned to the Investigative Committee of Russia with a statement about rape. The officers were fired for an act tarnishing the honor of a law enforcement officer, and subsequently arrested for two months.
It became known yesterday that the chief of Yaromchuk, Andrey Demerchyan, received bribes for the illegal granting of Russian citizenship. The ex-cop accused of rape is also being checked for involvement in the corruption scheme.
Every big Russian city has ‘untouchable' people who are beyond the reach of the law enforcement authorities – generals, judges, mayors, etc. Despite overwhelming evidence sufficient to prosecute them, such persons cannot be busted without authorization from the federal center. There is also another type of corrupt officials: their deeds are well-known – but these people are so generous, hospitable, and understanding that no one is willing to arrest them.
