MP arrested for picketing in support of journalist Ivan Golunov
The State Duma asked to check the legality of the prosecution of Medusa’s special correspondent.
Municipal deputy of the Basmanny District Viktor Kotov, who participated in a rally outside the Moscow State Department of the Interior in support of Medusa’s journalist Ivan Golunov, was detained. The police measure the distance between the picketing persons using a tape measure – according to the law, during a single picket, it must be at least 50 meters, Svobodniye Media report.
The police detained another person, whose name is unknown, the MBKh Media writes. Previously detained persons were released without protocols.
State Duma Deputy Sergey Shargunov sent a request to verify the legality of Golunov’s detention to the Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika. It is to be recalled that a criminal case was initiated against him over the attempt on the illegal production, sale or transfer of drugs (Article 30 and Article 228.1 CCRF). Golunov claims that the police planted the drugs and beat him.
